Becoming more Self-Aware, Mindful and Motivated

June 14, 2023

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Refresh and align understanding on what is emotional intelligence (EI), the 4-domain model and the 18 competencies that support EI.
  • Identify which competencies you need to develop to effectively lead others, through a self-assessment form.
  • Discern the difference between automatic (system 1) and intentional (system 2) thinking; and when they serve you well and when they need to be better managed.
  • Learn a wholistic model to manage emotions by managing thoughts and behaviors.
  • Understand both cognitive and behavioural principles and strategies to manage emotions intelligently and motivate self, and then apply these strategies, which include knowing your emotional triggers and reframing.

Developing Empathy, Listening and Influencing Skills

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the power of empathy in developing relationships, and learn ways to build the competency of empathy.
  • Know about the two messages you send to build rapport and communicate effectively.
  • Know the link between emotions and conflict, and learn ways to manage our emotions to reduce conflict and successfully collaborate.
  • Understand and apply the six principles of influence to develop the competency of influence in the workplace.
  • Map out your personal influence network and understand the importance of building a robust, diverse influence network.

Being a Change Catalyst

June 21, 2023

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the competency of change catalyst and the stages of change to help yourself and others manage change.
  • Know the five elements necessary for managing transition, and work through an exercise to be aware of the impact when one of these elements is missing.
  • Discover how to support people through times of change and transition by empathizing with the emotions people experience during change and transition.
  • Be able to inspire change by communicating your vision in a storytelling format, and practice this using a real-life change initiative or project.

  • Learn how to define and create a differentiated value proposition.
  • Be inspired by real life examples and success stories.
  • Know a formula for an effective elevator pitch.
  • Practice presenting your value proposition through an elevator pitch.


How to Craft and Deliver your Presentation via Storytelling

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Prepare for delivering a presentation, emotionally, mentally and physically.
  • Identify the components that make a compelling story.
  • Differentiate stories that tell and sell, and stories that inspire and influence.
  • Learn a simple structure and process for you to construct and tell your story to suit the objective of the session or situation.
  • Apply to an upcoming presentation to help you refine it and fine-tune the appropriate messaging and tone.

Leading and Developing Others with Emotional Intelligence

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Align understanding about the neuro-science of Emotional Intelligence, the four-domain model of emotional intelligence and the 18 competencies that support the four domains
  • Explore the connection between emotional intelligence and leadership, specifically,
    • Describe the difference between resonant and dissonant leadership
    • Define six styles of leadership and how they relate to resonant leadership
  • Identify which competencies the participants need to develop to effectively lead others using a self-assessment tool
  • Learn basic tools for developing the emotional competencies that support the coaching leadership style.
  • Explore a model for deciding how to apply leadership styles to different situations

Managing and Resolving Team Conflicts

  • Understand the link between emotions and conflict, and learn ways to manage our emotions to reduce conflict
  • Discover the 3 basic premises of the competency of conflict management
  • Learn to identify the sources of conflict
  • Apply conflict management strategies and steps to resolve various types of conflicts in the workplace
  • Practice the strategies and steps to resolve a conflict in a given case study

Engaging a Diverse Team to Collaborate

  • Learn basic tools for developing the emotional competencies that support the affiliative leadership style
  • Manage unconscious bias and create a culture that respects diversity and inclusion
  • Develop strategies for creating a motivating and engaged culture
  • Learn basic tools for developing the emotional competencies that support the democratic leadership style
  • Identify strategies for win–win collaboration and team decision-making

The Leader as a Coach

October 27, 2023

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Define what great coaching is and know what it looks like in practice
  • Determine your role as a coach and the role of the performer
  • Learn essential skills needed to conduct coaching conversations that help performers grow
  • Take a service-oriented approach that emphasizes deep listening and encourages the performer to own and pull the coaching conversation forward
