Last January 23, 2025, DKT Health employees launched their week-long employee conference at Lanson Place, MOA Complex, Manila. Thelma Meneses, on behalf of PowerinU Training & Coaching Philippines Inc., facilitated the session “Adapting to Change: Building Mental and Emotional Strength”.
The forum provided a platform for discussion on the profound impact of mental and emotional strengths in influencing one’s capacity to respond to challenges, both positively and negatively.
Central to the discourse was the idea that resilience is not simply persevering but rather the capacity to bounce back by navigating difficulties with grace and understanding. The participants delved into the nuances of emotional intelligence, recognizing it as a crucial tool in fostering resilience. Emotional intelligence encompasses the awareness of one’s own emotions and those of others, facilitating a more profound connection to the human experience.
A key outcome of the workshop was the understanding that self-awareness is deepened through empathy and mindfulness. Empathy allows individuals to perceive and resonate with the feelings of others, creating a supportive environment where emotional exchanges can flourish. Mindfulness, on the other hand, encourages individuals to remain present, promoting clarity in thought and action. The combination of these two qualities cultivates emotional intelligence, which in turn enhances resilience.
By developing empathy, individuals can navigate interpersonal relationships with greater sensitivity and understanding. Mindfulness fortifies this framework by anchoring individuals in the moment, enabling them to respond to stressors with intention rather than reaction. Participants recognized that this harmonious blend of empathy, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence does not only empower personal resilience; it also fosters a collective resilience within communities.
Sense of self-worth, emotional anchorage, self-esteem, identity, and personal strength can resolve some tough life questions:
>> Amidst so many crises, how do I divide my personal & professional time to improve my lot?
>> How can I achieve true happiness as I reach success in life?
>> How can I truly be happy for the success of others?
>> How can I control my child while at the same time giving him the freedom to choose how he wants to be happy and successful?
>> Why is my life so difficult? Why am I not improving on my lot?
>> How will I be accepted by people? I am always shy.
>> Why is my relationship with my spouse always strained? Can’t we be happy forever?
>> Why am I not good looking?
>> I have committed so many errors in life. I am ashamed of myself. Isn’t this the reason why I have no true friends?
>> Why do I always have to find a solution for other people’s problems
>> Why don’t I get the help I need?
The workshop illuminated the indispensable role of emotional intelligence in cultivating resilience. Having the mental ability to have a keen understanding of the various parts and realities of life provides wisdom that allows sound judgment, discernment, and comprehension. It leads to oneness of the whole being. It allows the person to make intentional actions to address and manage stressors.
By embracing empathy and mindfulness, individuals can enhance not only their own resilience but also contribute positively to the harmony of those around them. The implications of these discussions extend beyond personal growth, pointing to a transformative approach in building cohesive and supportive environments.
