Attitude is everything!
As I got older and wiser, like most of us do, I started to realize that I absolutely agree about that fact. And, I also started to realize that that lesson applied to more than just work, sports, or any other activities.
Your attitude is one of the single most defining attributes of your leadership.
Having the right attitude is key in all areas of life. Keep reading to learn why that is, and a few key attitudes that are must-haves if you want to live a life of joy, fulfillment, and success.
3 Must Have Attitudes in Life
1. Attitude of Gratitude
An attitude of gratitude means making the conscious habit of expressing appreciation on a regular basis for big and small things alike. Focusing on consciously adding more gratitude into your life will be one of the most transformative things you will do, and will positively impact all areas of your life.
But oftentimes we forget how blessed we are. Because we are stuck in comparison mode and have a negative attitude. If you’re not careful, comparison will rip your life apart.
How to develop an attitude of gratitude?
- Begin by asking yourself, “What can I be grateful for?”
- When you wake up every day, say or write down three things that you are grateful for.
- Start a gratitude journal to write down what you are grateful for, proud of, and excited about.
- At the end of your day, tell someone three things that happened that made you grateful.
It’s never too late to start. It takes a bit of work but having an attitude of gratitude is one of the healthiest habits for cultivating a fulfilling and happy life.
Give thanks every single day. Take the time to stop and appreciate life and all its beauty.
2. Attitude of Possibility
You must believe that success is possible. There are a lot of voices out there telling you that the structures of society are aligned against you. Positivity has a direct relationship with possibilities. People who are negative tend to have a fixed mindset and are closed off to all of the possibility that exists in life.
If you believe it’s possible to succeed, it’s possible! If not, then it isn’t.
So ask yourself this question: do you believe it’s possible for you to succeed? Do you really believe it?
The first step in gaining success is moving outside of a victim mentality to take control of your own destiny rather than let this world, or this society, or your past, or your family, or whatever decide your fate.
Looking at it the other way, it typically takes having a positive attitude to want to become great at something.
3. Attitude of Commitment
The third is commitment. An attitude of commitment means that you have grit. Grit is the commitment to keep going when it doesn’t go your way.
Life is hard. And guess what else? It doesn’t go your way every moment after. If you haven’t figured that out yet, then you haven’t lived that long because if you live long enough, eventually you’ll find that the universe conspires against you at times.
Realistically, it doesn’t go our way more often than it does go our way. It does so to test our commitment.
It’s almost as if the universe is saying, “What are you gonna do now? Quit? Give up?” Well, success comes to those who persevere.
Success comes to the committed. You have to be determined.
Your attitude is everything, don’t try to fight against that truth. Accept it, and allow it to guide you in consciously choosing the attitude you want to have on a daily basis. In particular, be sure to have attitudes of gratitude, possibility, and commitment. Doing that will allow you to live a great life.
