PASIA has pioneered the very first conference in ASIA to harmonize the Human Resource and Supply Chain business units. The conference was held last August 29-30, 2019 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Manila, Philippines with the theme “HR as a Business Partner for Supply Chain, Procurement and Logistics; Human Resources Synergy towards Managing Risk, Creating Value and Managing Total Cost”.
Day 1 of the conference was hosted by PASIA’s Partner, Mr. Jun Marfori of POWERinU Training and Coaching Philippines, Inc, with Ms. Rose Pura, Project Implementation Manager of PASIA, welcoming the attendees.
In the morning, a short talk on “HR Business Partner’s Role in Improving Organization’s Business” was given by Mr. Benjie Garcia of POWERinU Training and Coaching Philippines, Inc, followed by “Understanding the Supply Chain from the Human Resource Perspective” by Emma Benito, Human Resource Director and Regional Supply Chain Director APC of Schneider Electric.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, Ms. Outi Suojen, CEO and Founder of Adult Talent Development, spoke about “Personality Assessment Tools for Recruitment, Workforce Planning, Management, Training and Development within the Digital Age”, followed by a short presentation on “Key Talent Gaps in Global Supply Chains” by Mr. Tonet Rivera, Former Sr. VP Global Supply Chain of Mead Johnson Nutrition. And just before the panel discussion, Ms. Jen Tongco, CEO and Co-founder of Netrust Philippines Corporation spoke about “Data Privacy Act Awareness for HR and Supply Chain Executives”.
After a networking break, a panel discussion was held moderated by Ms. Emma Benito, Human Resource Director and Regional Supply Chain Director, APC of Schneider Electric. There were three panelists coming from Human Resource (Benjie Garcia – President of POWERinU, Darwin Rivers – Country HR & Admin Director – Peak Outsourcing Founder/President of PHRG Inc., and Joann Hizon – Vice President for HR, Admin and Facilities of SM Investments Corp.) and three panelists coming from Supply Chain, Procurement and Logistics (William Kohnen – Senior Manager for Shared Services Global Accounts Payable of RingCentral, Tess Owen – Trainer, Procurement and Supply Chain Institute of Asia, Former Vice President of Macy’s USA, and Tonet Rivera – Former Sr. Vice President for Global Supply Chain of Mead Johnson Nutrition).
On Day 2 of the conference, several Master Classes were held. They were:
- Achieving Customer Experience Excellence through HRM and SCM Synergy by Conrad Reyes, Founder and President of CX and Sales Services Corporation
- Learning and Development through Agile and Digital Learning by Rey Lugtu, President and CEO of Hungry Workhorse Consulting
- Strategic Relationship: HR and Supply Chain using Business Relationship Management by Suresh GP, Managing Director in SouthEast Asia for TAUB Solutions Pte Ltd.
