POWERinU Training & Coaching Philippines is honored to partner with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Local Government Academy (LGA) in facilitating a two-day Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for the development of the Department’s Basic and Advanced Coaching Modules.
Held on October 15–16, 2026 at the Greenleaf Hotel in General Santos City, the workshop brings together representatives from the DILG Central and Regional Offices to contribute insights, experiences, and recommendations that will shape the Department’s future coaching initiatives.
The Focus Group Discussion was facilitated by POWERinU Directors Thelma Meneses and Elaine Cercado, who led collaborative conversations to identify the competencies, learning outcomes, and practical coaching approaches needed to strengthen coaching capabilities across the Department.
The coaching modules being developed aim to equip DILG personnel with the knowledge and skills to:
- Coach local government units more effectively in achieving sustainable results;
- Serve as internal coaches who support the growth and development of their colleagues; and
- Foster a coaching culture that strengthens leadership, collaboration, and continuous learning throughout the organization.
Rather than simply gathering ideas, the workshop created a space for meaningful dialogue among DILG leaders, ensuring that the modules are grounded in the realities of local governance and responsive to the evolving needs of the Department and its workforce.
At POWERinU, we believe that effective coaching is a powerful catalyst for individual growth, stronger leadership, and organizational transformation. We are grateful for the opportunity to support the Local Government Academy in designing learning interventions that will empower DILG leaders to develop others, build capability from within, and create lasting impact in public service.
We look forward to translating the valuable insights gathered during the Focus Group Discussion into the development of DILG’s Basic and Advanced Coaching Modules. As the project progresses, POWERinU will also facilitate the pilot implementation of the Basic Coaching Module this November, helping validate and refine the program before its broader rollout across the Department next year, further strengthening leadership and coaching capabilities within the organization.
